How did you get into Kiting, SUP or Windsurfing?
Back in 2004, I went on a road trip from Seattle to the Columbia River and enjoyed watching the windsurfers when I noticed a kite or two on the water and they were boosting huge. I was immediately fascinated and knew that I had to learn how to do this.
What’s the one thing you can’t live without?
Water!!! I grew up in the mountains in Austria, but I always felt like I’m more of a waterman. I now am lucky enough to live directly on Lake Washington in Seattle where I can kite in front of my place. Being on the water makes me feel alive!
What’s in your backpack when traveling?
Dental floss 😉 and an extra battery pack to charge my gadgets when I’m on the road or chasing wind off the beaten path.

I was able to successfully organize the first every Jetty Island Light Wind Olympics in 2017 and again in 2018 and get together the local kiteboarding community, grow the sport, and fuel the stoke in the Pacific Northwest. My motto has always been, “Where there’s a will there’s a way.”
